Ketschentor fountain (Ketschentorbrunnen)

Short facts

  • Coburg
  • Sights
In the immediate vicinity of the Ketschentor fountain, pigs were traded among other things until the middle of the 20th century. Even today, people talk about the "Säumarktbrunnen". It is located in the lower Ketschengasse at the junction with Kuhgasse. In 1566 the fountain was built as a wooden construction, since 1657 it has been a stone fountain. Water sources from the Albrechtsgarten near Coburg's city centre supplied the Kastenbrunnen with its octagonal basin. In 1969 it was connected to the water supply system.
