Shopping in Coburg
Coburg, the shopping town
City stroll
Coburg promises a diverse shopping experience, whether wool shops, designer brands, jewellery or rarities. The main shopping street is in Spitalgasse. This is the start of Coburg's pedestrian zone, which stretches to the end of Steinweg and offers a mix of local shops, well-stocked specialist shops and chain shops. Your culinary needs are also catered for: bakeries, butchers, market stalls, cafés and bistros await you here. Various multi-storey car parks and parking spaces in the city centre ensure a pleasant shopping experience in Coburg.
Weekly market
Regional products
The Coburg weekly market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday morning until around 1 pm on the market place. Cut flowers, garden and balcony plants are offered at various stalls. Depending on the season, you’ll also find stalls selling strawberries, asparagus, pumpkins, or cherries to compete with the fruits and vegetables on offer all year round. The weekly market is a lively, aromatic trading point for bread, sausages, cheese, eggs and fresh meat. Almost all products are locally produced. All of Coburg meets here to get hold of the most beautiful tulips, to buy groceries or just to have a little chat. Every Saturday there is also a farmers' market in Steinweg where local producers offer their regional products.
