Fountain „To the fishery“ (Brunnen „Zur Fischerei“)

Short facts

  • Coburg
  • Sights
The fountain „To the fishery" ( Brunnen „Zur Fischerei") was built at the end of the 19th century in the beer garden of the inn of the same name. The property in Webergasse belonged to the innkeeper Wilhelm Fischer from 1889 to 1931. The inn was a well-known meeting place for artists and intellectuals in Coburg. During a city redevelopment, it was demolished for space reasons to build the Mauer multi-storey car park, but the fountain remained. Years later it was renewed and placed at the stairway to the Kunstverein. The stone fountain consists of a semicircular water bowl with a relief above it. It shows a water spirit whose mouth is spouting water. The fountain was not connected to a water source.
