Christmas Market
The magic of Christmas
During Advent, Coburg’s historic market square at the heart of the picturesque town becomes a Christmassy little world, which is officially opened by the Christ Child. Starting on the Friday before the first Sunday of Advent until 23rd December, the Christmas Market radiates with colourful lights. Strolling through the market with its prettily decorated stalls, there is a feeling of pre-Christmas excitement. Stalls for food and drink ensure culinary well-being. There is also a carousel for children, a pleasant touch of nostalgia next to the glistening lights of the Christmas tree. To enhance the atmosphere further, a number of artists, choirs and bands perform Christmas carols throughout the market. Coburg’s Christmas Market is open from 29th November to 23rd December 2024.
Magic Winter Night
Late-night shopping
On the Saturday evening before the first Advent, Coburg’s town centre is transformed into a diverse sound experience during the Magic Winter Night. Under the motto ‘Coburg listens’, the streets in the old town are full of musical highlights. Visitors can look forward to extended opening hours for the shops, which stay open until late in the evening. Mulled wine and delicious treats are offered by the local shops, creating a festive atmosphere. Various attractions such as light installations, performances and activities add a magical touch to the event. The Coburg Christmas Market sets the scene for this magical pre-Christmas shopping experience.

Place of fine arts
Coburg’s theatre tradition goes back a long way. The state theatre opened during the reign of Duke Ernst I in 1840. The repertoire ranges from opera, operetta and musical theatre to drama, ballet and concerts. The magnificent GLOBE COBURG is used as an interim theatre whilst the main house is being renovated and provides a wonderful stage.
Kongresshaus Rosengarten
Coburg's conference centre
The conference centre has been a social, cultural and economic centre in Coburg since it was first built in 1962. It reopened again in 1987 after a two-year renovation project. This small but attractive complex is an impressive proof that the Kongresshaus Rosengarten can be the perfect setting for successful events.
RIDING HALL (REITHALLE)
Studio stage with charm
The studio stage of the state theatre captivates with its atmosphere and entertaining shows. There is virtually no separation between the audience and stage, allowing easy interaction between both and providing scope for various open forms of theatre.
