Fountain at the Morizkirche (Brunnen an der Morizkirche)

Short facts

  • Coburg
  • Sights
It is a small adventure to discover the fountain at the Morizkirche by chance while strolling through the city centre. It is a little hidden on a square between the Morizkirche and the building authority of the city of Coburg. The fountain was inaugurated on 30 May 2002, designed by Manfred Mayerle from Munich. The artist was inspired by marbles found during excavation work at the Morizkirche. Three stone balls of different sizes and a mighty round disc divided into squares symbolise the marble game. The sloping slab is equipped with 16 water fountains, four of which bubble on the quarter hour, eight on the half hour, twelve on the three-quarter hour and finally all sixteen on the hour.
